The Spruceglen got caught in heavy freezing spray
The Spruceglen got caught in heavy freezing spray on January 01, 2009 and when the crew woke up the next day, a quick investigation revealed 12-18 inches of ice forward. Weather did not permit the crew to venture on deck.
Fortunately, the warm weather during the next days melted all the ice. Unfortunately, the trip took a long time with 2.5 days added due to three successive storms enroute!
Picture was taken by Chief Officer Georges LaRoche and Captain Jason Furlong.
