CSL and ECOSPEC Forge Alliance to Reduce Great Lakes Emission Using CSNOx

MONTREAL, June 2, 2010 - Canada Steamship Lines (CSL), in a continuing bid to advance its industry-leading position in environmental stewardship, has signed a Letter of Intent with ECOSPEC Marine Technology wherein both parties will work together to develop and install CSNOx technology within the CSL fleet, thus bringing revolutionary ecological technology to the Great Lakes in its ongoing search for solutions in improving the marine industry’s environmental footprint.

The partnership announcement was made by CSL President, Gerry Carter, at Green Marine’s “Green Tech for Shipping 2010” conference held in Montreal, Canada, May 2010.
CSL and ECOSPEC plan on installing the award winning CSNOx system on one of CSL’s Great Lakes vessels later this year in order to validate and obtain certification of the performance and efficiency of the system in a fresh water environment, making the CSL installation the world’s first CSNOx freshwater environment project.
CSL and ECOSPEC are optimistic that this system could be the environmental emission reduction breakthrough that the Marine Industry has been searching for, and will become the new standard for emission reductions.

ECOSPEC CSNOx is the world’s first commercially viable solution which can effectively reduce harmful pollutants like Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), Nitrogen Oxide (NOX) and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) from emissions of large ocean trading vessels, all three gases are removed in one process and in a single system, without using harmful chemicals.
More importantly, CSNOx is the only marine exhaust gas abatement process in the world that is capable of offsetting and net reduction in CO2 emission trails. This mainly sets it apart from existing conventional scrubbers that increase CO2 emissions due to chemical reactions in the scrubbing process, or primarily due to the fact that they do not at all have the capability to offset CO2 emissions by the additional energy used.
